Odds and Ends

*I confess I totally want an It's OK to be Takei t-shirt (black XL, in case any family members are getting birthdayish thoughts). Then I would be able to don my Takei apparel! I heart George Takei so hard.

*I visited my friends, Remi and Liz in North Carolina after the con last weekend, which was awesome, but also, they infected me with that Rebecca Black song, which will now be in my head for all eternity. I am reminded of this because I was just absentmindedly singing it (because, after all, today it is Friday, right?), and only realized when Ophelia jumped in my lap. I have never met a cat so enamored of singing. I guess she made her mind up about which seat she could take...

*WisCon is next week! So soon! Will I see you there? The 28th is my birthday. WisCon birthday funtimes, anyone?

*Exciting secret projects are in the works! I am excited! I will tell you more about them when I have more than a bare inkling to share. But, just so you know, exciting future things: can haz!

*I can't help wondering if it's more than coincidence that PodCastle chose this week to put up theferrett's story about giant squid grappling with truth and illusion around religion. It seems au courant, doesn't it?

*I haven't forgotten the In California series. Pictures of Muir Woods coming soon!

And you, flist? What odds and ends are taking up space in your brain today?

I have spent most of the day critiquing dissertation chapters for my sister and fielding phone calls about work issues. And also making vague story notes. And also also wishing the rain would stop.

Tonight I'm going to see Vienna Teng, which should be awesome.

No exciting future things on the near horizon, so I shall be vicariously excited for yours!

I have to settle travel to NY still. And none of my panelists have replied to my e-mail, so I had better do some moderation planning without them. Oh, and um, do you want to play Once Upon A Time with me for practice?

Yes, I do want to play OUaT with you!

I'm writing about a wife and mother as she gets ready to engage in guerrilla warfare to overthrow a dictator and (hopefully) get her husband out of prison in the process.

It's kind of hard going, actually.

Sorry about the hard going.

It's a little draining to dig in deep and find your fears and nightmares and sorrows then put them into words. Especially when your preferred mode is to avoid deep introspection.

(My computer freezing didn't help any...)

We share the same birthday! :-)

Yes! That was one of three things that made me decide to friend you to begin with (the other two were that you had said something interesting on someone else's blog, and that you listed Liselotte von der Pfalz in your interests). I enjoy sharing a birthday with you!

See you at WisCon!!

Yay! I am looking forward to it!

I just posted the first of two Xxxholic fanfics for a fest where the fans write a better ending than CLAMP did for the series. I enjoyed giving my favorite manga pairing a cozy growing-very-old-together ending. (art of them as teenagers in my icon)

I also need to make myself work on adoption-homestudy-renewal paperwork! We are off the list now because of procrastination and a depressing, draining winter. Thank goodness things have gotten better, though I'm still slogging away in my sadly non-career job.

So you'll be at Wiscon when I'm at Balticon. We can post about our respective con-awesomeness!

Thanks for posting the Takei-ness: I want one of those buttons! I like the idea one of the commenters had about sending buttons to the Tenn. governor.

She is a cat enamored of singing because she used to be sung to all the time! She loves music almost as much as Desdemona loves sleeping in the bathtub. But that is a weirdness that can't be explained.

I love singing to them, so it works out nicely. And Desdemonster does love water and wet places. And dust. And rugs. And filth. If she can find filth, OMG, it is AWESOME to our monster. Silly beast.
